🌤️ Good morning Edinburgh. Here’s a quick bonus edition of the Edinburgh Minute rounding-up the election results and links to local coverage.

🚨 Angus Robertson is out and four local councillors are taking the step up to Holyrood to become MSPs. Here are the local results from the Scottish Parliamentary elections, followed by local headlines:

Results in full:

Edinburgh Central: Lorna Jane Slater, Scottish Green Party (4,582 majority)

Edinburgh North Eastern and Leith: Ben Macpherson, Scottish National Party (3,071 majority)

Edinburgh North Western: Alex Cole-Hamilton, Scottish Liberal Democrats (13,016 majority)

Edinburgh Northern: Sanne Dijkstra-Downie, Scottish Liberal Democrats (2,493 majority)

Edinburgh South Western: Simita Kumar, Scottish National Party (3,289 majority)

Edinburgh Southern: Daniel Guy Johnson, Scottish Labour Party (4,963 majority)

Turnout for the city constituencies was 57.8%, with 223,815 votes cast from 387,355.

  • Irshad Ahmed - Scottish Labour Party
  • Miles Briggs - Scottish Conservative and Unionist Party
  • Q Manivannan - Scottish Green Party

For the region, turnout was 56.7%: 320,286 votes cast from the electorate of 564,571.

What happens next:

The newly elected MSPs will be contacted over the weekend about their induction sessions then begin hiring staff and setting up their constituency offices. The traditional Kirking of the Parliament event is planned for Wednesday at St Giles Cathedral, followed by formal swearing-in at the Holyrood chamber on Thursday. - More details are expected to be shared by the Scottish Parliament on Monday.
