🗣️ There was anger at the City Chambers yesterday as councillors voted to temporarily close the People's Story Museum on the Royal Mile to save money. - Local Democracy Reporter Donald Turvill was there.
⮑ Closing the museum is expected to save around £205,000, less than 1% of the forecasted £26.7m budget deficit, reports Alasdair Ferguson in The National.
⮑ Campaigner Jim Slaven described the cost-cutting decision as ‘shameful’, after making his deputation to the Culture Committee.

🎭 Arts organisations across Edinburgh are facing a further three-month wait to hear if they have been awarded funding. Funding body Creative Scotland says its new three-year funding stream is delayed until January because the Scottish Government will not confirm its own allocation of funds until its budget in December.
⮑ The delay has been met with ‘disbelief and despair by a sector which is teetering on the brink’, reports BBC Scotland’s Arts correspondent Pauline McLean.

🧸 A tiny red panda baby made her first public appearance at Edinburgh Zoo yesterday. The nine-week-old had her first health check from the wildlife conservation charity’s veterinary team, who said she is ‘doing well and will be named shortly’. - More photos in this gallery by The National.

🎵 The Royal High School Preservation Trust is asking Edinburgh residents for their thoughts on the history of the Calton Hill building, and what it should become as a National Centre for Music. Grant MacKenzie, the trust’s Executive Director said: “Our vision is to create a new cultural venue for the local community, drawing on their needs and interests to create a programme of musical performances and activities. Highlighting the heritage of the site will also be fundamental throughout the venue and it’s important for us to understand the current knowledge and views around the history of the building to allow us to shape our plans.” - The survey is here and more information on the overall plans is here.
