🗑️ Controversial rules about the placement of new bin hubs have been relaxed. Councillors have agreed to ditch a rule that people should not have to cross a road to use bins. It has emerged that external consultants hired by the council to choose new bin hubs sites initially used Google Maps - a practice branded ‘wholly inadequate’ by councillors, who admitted it ‘did not involve any common sense.’ - Local Democracy Reporter Stuart Sommerville reports from the city council’s Transport and Environment Committee for STV News.
💰 Children’s mental health charity The Haven will be ‘forced to close its doors next year’ unless a new organisation can take over. - Rachel Amery, The Scotsman.
🚈 Some trains are cancelled between Edinburgh and East Lothian after a lorry got struck under railway bridge at Newcraighall. - Steven A Brown, East Lothian Courier.

🍸 The new Edinburgh Gin distillery at East Market Street Arches will open its doors from 6 December. - Rosalind Erskine, The Scotsman.
✏️ A review of school services for pupils with additional support needs which sparked ‘untold anxiety’ among parents is ‘not a finance driven exercise’, Edinburgh council's chief executive has insisted. - Kirsty Paterson, Edinburgh Live.

🚨 Police taped off a section of the Water of Leith path between Stockbridge and Dean Village. Not sure why yet and this report by Edinburgh Live is also lacking that important detail.
🗳️ The council has confirmed residents in Colinton/Fairmilehead will go to the polls on Thursday 23 January for another by-election. They’ll select a new councillor following the resignation of Marco Biagi. Candidates will be confirmed when nominations close at 4pm on Thursday 17 December. - More details here.
