🎵 The people who make some of Scotland's grassroots events come to life will be discussing their work at Leith Arches tonight. Hosted by Born To Be Wide, Creating A Scene: The Rise of Independent Promoters will feature a panel talk with guests including Gloria Black of Microsteria, Frankie Elyse of Polka Dot Disco Club, Jamie Thompson of SMC and Jemima Fasakin of baile/baile. They will discuss discovering and nurturing new talent, deals, genres and the different approaches shaping Scotland’s independent music scene. It starts at 7pm. - More details here.

🎤 Star of stage and screen Dylan Moran has announced his 'Looking For Trouble' tour will come to the Assembly Roxy on 27 November. - Tickets here.

🎹 Fronted by Claire Grogan, Scottish post-punk/new wave group Altered Images will play their album 'Happy Birthday' at the Liquid Room on Friday night. - Tickets.
🛍️ The Night Market is back at the Biscuit Factory in Leith on Friday evening. The previous two sold out. Expect food trucks, creative makers' stalls, vintage clothes, live DJs and more. - You can see videos from previous events here and get tickets here (some time slots are already sold out).
🪩 DJs from around the world are heading to the Royal Highland Centre at Ingliston on Saturday as the Elrow Hallucinarium arrives. The organisers sound confident that they can make you feel like you're not at Ingliston: "Step into a kaleidoscopic journey that transforms your perception of reality. Hallucinarium invites you on a cosmic voyage through the heights and depths of human consciousness, where sacred geometry, vibrant sculptures and hypnotic visuals collide. Every corner tells a story. Every moment is a revelation. 💃 Fancy a dance? There's a festival for that. Starting on Friday and running all weekend, the Edinburgh Lindy Exchange is a swing dance festival with events at venues across town. It kicks off on Friday evening at Greyfriars Kirk where Colin Steele Kings of Swing will be playing at the welcome party's ceilidh. - The festival shares updates on Instagram and its line-up is on the website.
🌊 The team behind Edinburgh Shanty Night will host their first all-ages session at Pianodrome in Bruntsfield on Sunday from 3pm - 5pm. - Tickets.

🎤 Kevin Bridges at the Playhouse on Saturday is sold out, but there are still a few tickets left for another cheeky stand-up on Sunday: Aussie comedy hero Sam Campbell has become a bit of a big deal over here since he got on TV. But he's still got that surreal edge about him. He's at the Playhouse on Sunday night and it's close to selling out too. - Tickets.
🎤 Fringe hit MC Hammersmith is back at Monkey Barrel Comedy on Tuesday 29 September for 'an explosive improvised comedy show based entirely on audience suggestions'. - Tickets.
🎭 What's on Edinburgh's stages this week?
Here's Thom Dibdin of All Edinburgh Theatre:
They're dancing in all sorts of ways round Edinburgh's stages this week with the new King's stage being used for a touring dance show for the first time, loads of moves with the grooves at the Church Hill, backstage shenanigans at the Studio and a certain Time Warp knocking them dead at the Bedlam.
First though, the new cast of the "★★★★☆ Energetic" SIX the Musical are giving their moves a dust off at the Festival Theatre (ends Sat: tickets) while the previous lot jet off to China.
The big news is happening up at the Church Hill Theatre where Showcase are holding their annual effort to benefit MacMillan Cancer Relief. This year's production, the "★★★★☆ Appealing" Dream as One (ends Sat: tickets) features 45 separate numbers and is bursting with talent, both in the singing and the dancing departments. Best availability is tonight (Wed) and Thurs.
Having got rid of the rake on the King's stage, the first to use it is choreographer Jasmin Vardimon's company with an expanded version of her 2005 piece of dance-theatre: Lullaby (Thu-Sat: tickets). Humorous and dark, it explores our relationship with illness and hospitalisation.
Company Chordelia return for the first time since 2019, with new work Revel at the Studio Theatre (Sat: tickets). Performed by AD Kally Lloyd-Jones with Edinburgh dancer and choreographer Steinvör Palsson, this a 60+ coming-of-age story about ageing, resilience, joie de vivre and dancing, is set backstage as the duo get ready...
It's pavement dancing of not a great kind at the Traverse, where brilliant local company Small Town give Jennifer Adams' Balisong (Fri/Sat: tickets) a rare public performance. The play, a deeply effecting piece about knives and children's knife-culture, usually plays in schools.
Not sure about the dancing in Tandem at Ten at the Traverse on Saturday only (tickets). This is a mahoosive ten tasters of new plays, performed script-in-hand, to celebrate the Tandem Writing Collective's tenth birthday.
The EUTC posse are donning the fishnets for a rare non-professional staging of Richard O'Brien's The Rocky Horror Show (ends Sat: tickets) at the Bedlam. Dammit Janet this is returns only...
And finally, new Glasgow company Ladybird Theatre make their debut at the Augustine United Church next week before the culture minute drops, with a modern take on Romeo and Juliet (Mon 28/Tue 29: tickets). Should be interesting.

🎭 Wallace: A Musical comes to Edinburgh's King's Theatre - 'A main stage version of Wallace: A Musical, from Scottish producers Raw Material, comes to the King's Theatre from Wednesday 30 September - Saturday 3 October.
