🪩 Edinburgh Culture Minute: 10 - 16 April 2024
'Accommodation prices an absolute joke': what the Fringe is doing to help priced-out performers + book fest seeks hospital stories + how to get an entry-level job in film + a 5km book launch in Porty

Welcome to the 41st edition of the Culture Minute, a weekly round-up of Edinburgh’s local creative news, events, jobs and opportunities. It exists thanks to the support of paying subscribers. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
PS, if the email’s too long for your inbox, you can always view it in a browser by hitting the headline or this link.
📮 If I missed anything, please this form to get your creative things featured.
🗳️ What do you want to see more of in The Edinburgh Culture Minute? I’ve had to cut out the listings this week to make space for a lot of interesting local creatives’ news that was sent in. But I did get feedback that the weekly venue listings were useful (mainly because listings sites, like many news sites, are terrible user-experiences). But even with the listings cut out, the newsletter is too long for most email inboxes. So please vote to let me know:
⮑ If ‘both’ wins, that’s fine but I’ll have to squeeze in less of each! If ‘listings’ gets a huge majority, I’ll consider sending them in a handy stand-alone additional email. Another option is for me to move the listings to Friday’s weekend guide, which you get as a paying subscriber as well. Either way, please vote so I know what you want more of, or feel free to comment below to tell me what to leave out. Give me the savage criticism I need so I can make this optimal for you! Thanks.
