- Description: Project delayed and 'changes' drafted as next consultation is pushed back a month following 13,000-strong public outcry
- Author: Michael MacLeod

The developer behind plans to partially demolish **Summerhall** has drafted '*changes*' to its controversial project following a public consultation.

AMA (New Town) Ltd says its plans have '*evolved*' and will present them to the public next month. Its initial plans were to demolish up to 80% of the Summerhall buildings for a **hotel and student accommodation**, along with an unspecified amount of space for creative businesses, an arts centre and cultural venue spaces.

The site is already home to more than 100 small businesses including artist studios, arts and science organisations, designers, photographers, illustrators, filmmakers and music studios.

A second consultation event was pencilled in for next Wednesday (11 Nov) but that has now slipped to Sunday 13 December (12pm to 4pm) and Monday 14 December (1.30pm to 7.30pm) at Summerhall. - Newly updated details are on [the consultation website's 'next steps' page](https://www.summerhallconsultation.co.uk/next-steps.php?ref=edinburghminute.com).

The developer said: "*The project team will present what changes have been made following the first round of consultation and how the proposals have evolved prior to the scheme being finalised and the planning application submitted*."

AMA's initial plans [are online here](https://www.summerhallconsultation.co.uk/proposals.php?ref=edinburghminute.com) and have so far attracted more than 13,000 signatures on [the 'Save Summerhall' petition](https://you.38degrees.org.uk/petitions/save-summerhall-scotland-s-premier-multidisciplinary-arts-venue?ref=edinburghminute.com).
